Normand Boucher Arboretum

Facelift for Normand Boucher Arboretum The Peace Region Junior Forest Rangers (JFRs) and other forestry staff rolled up their sleeves and undertook major renovations at the arboretum in Peace River this past summer.  The large gazebo (first constructed in 2000) received a compete clean-up and a new coat of paint.  Further, two damaged benches along the arboretum walking areas were also replaced .   Still to go, are plans to repair and paint the front entrance way in September, before the frost arrives. Hon. Norman Kwong Following the lead of the Government of Alberta the Town of Peace River has lowered flags at all Municipal buildings to mourn the weekend passing of the Honourable Norman L. July 12, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   Peace River’s Public Works Department will be moving to a new home on the west hill in September, a move that will help the Town improve service delivery and facilitates the construction of a second bridge over the Peace River. The new building will allow Public Works to complete their move on time, and under budget, saving $1.75 million. The Witness Blanket – remembering and bearing witness to First Nations residential schools A significant part of Canada’s history in Peace River July 1 – September 8, 2016 The Blanket Created by Kwagiulth/Salish artist Carey Newman, the Witness Blanket, is two and a half metres tall and 12 metres wide. Skate Park In June of this year the committee broke ground with the help of some local contractors who have donated their time. However, one final roadblock presented itself when the committee found themselves without the funds to pay for trucking services during the soil remediation phase.
