Snow Removal Program
For Seniors or Residents with Physical Disabilities
The Town of Peace River in partnership with the Peace River Correctional Centre provides a snow removal program for senior citizens and for physically disabled residents to remove snow from their accessible entrance, driveways and sidewalks.
To qualify, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Own or rent the property and MUST reside in the property on which the application is made.
- Be 65 years of age or more at the date of the application OR be confined to a wheelchair, restricted to the use of crutches or braces, or otherwise be disabled in such a way as to restrict physical mobility.
- Not have any able bodied persons under the age of 65 residing at this property.
- Not live in a condominium dwelling where all snow removal is the direct responsibility of the condominium corporation.
Snow Angels is an awareness and recognition program encouraging Peace River residents to help a neighbor in need by shoveling snow for them and to acknowledge those kind volunteers as a Town of Peace River Snow Angel.
Keep our Town safe and accessible, snow that remains on sidewalks is hazardous for everyone, but especially for people with limited mobility who may be severely injured from a fall on ice or snow.
Snow covered walkways also make it difficult for people who deliver services in our town—mail carriers, meter readers, delivery drivers, firefighters and paramedics.
Watch out for the people in your neighborhood who could use help shoveling their sidewalks and driveways and ask if you can lend a hand.
Download and submit a Snow Angels Nomination Form, they will then receive a recognition certificate and a special thank you from the Town of Peace River in appreciation for their kindness. For more information about the program please call 780-624-1000.
