NEW: Two additional yard waste bins have been installed at the Eco Centre. In addition to the 2 at the Centennial Parking Lot downtown (which will continue), we have 2 new yard waste bins installed at the Peace Regional Waste Management Company Eco Centre on the West Hill. On March 11, 2024, Town Council gave first reading to a bylaw which provides a mechanism to enforce restrictions against camping on town property. The Town has seen a significant increase in unauthorized camping in public areas, such as parks and green spaces. URGENT MESSAGE – RIVER ICE SAFETY Yesterday afternoon, the Fire Department, Sheriffs and RCMP responded to two youths who were out on the river ice near the open water, just north of the highway bridge. This is extremely dangerous behaviour! With warmer temperatures and the spring ice break-up approaching, the ice can be very unstable and unpredictable in its thickness and strength. Please note that effective April 1, 2024, the Town of Peace River will be charging $25 (+GST) for Criminal Record Checks conducted by the RCMP. RCMP will be able to accept payment by debit and credit card.
