Stage Two Reopening Information

June 12, 2020

This week the Government of Alberta announced the Province would be moving into stage two of their relaunch plan. In light of the Government of Alberta’s Stage Two Reopening, the Town of Peace River would like to provide an update on how this will impact municipal facilities closed due to COVID-19.

Baytex Energy Centre

Tentative reopening date for Canadian Natural Fieldhouse and track: July 6, 2020

We are excited that we will soon be welcoming visitors back to the Baytex Energy Centre. Before we reopen the Canadian Natural Fieldhouse and the track to the public we need to complete some maintenance projects that were initiated during the COVID-19 shutdown. We also need to finalize our operations plan to ensure the safety of staff and visitors when we do reopen. A detailed reopening plan will be shared closer to the date on our website and social media pages.

Please follow the Baytex Energy Centre on Facebook for news and updates.

Additional information

The indoor playground will not reopen in stage two, as the Government of Alberta’s regulations does not permit reopening indoor playgrounds in stage two.

Champion’s Health & Fitness is planning for their own reopening, their timelines will be different from the rest of the Baytex Energy Centre. For more info on Champions Health & Fitness please contact them at (587) 479-7493, or email [email protected].

Kat’s Koncession & Caterings will be sharing details about their plans on their Facebook page. Please follow their page for updates and more info.

Peace Regional Pool

Tentative reopening date for the main pool: July 17, 2020

During the closure due to COVID-19 we began our annual maintenance program, which would usually occur in September. Once this program is complete we will be able to begin welcoming visitors back to the Peace Regional Pool. While completing our annual maintenance shutdown now will mean a slight delay in reopening, the pool will be able to operate through September without needing to close for annual maintenance at that time as it normally would.

Currently, the main pool is drained as we complete our annual shutdown maintenance work. The pool will not need to close in September as it normally does.

The regulations put in place by the Government of Alberta will have an impact on our schedule, what courses we can offer, and what we can open. We are working to finalize our reopening plan and schedule based on the newly released information from the Government of Alberta. A detailed reopening plan will be shared closer to the date on our website and social media pages.
