The Town of Peace River is looking for Recreation Junior Leaders who will assist with supervised group-based activities for youth 6-12 years of age, Monday to Friday, during July and August. You will be responsible for assisting with youth activities, games and the overall supervision of the program participants under the guidance of the Summer Recreation Senior Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dive headfirst into the world of imagination, working with fellow adventurers on a quest to make every day an epic adventure for our campers.
  • Channel your inner superhero to lead by example, inspiring your team with boundless enthusiasm, infectious energy, and a never-ending supply of high fives.
  • Get crafty with arts and crafts projects that’ll unleash kids’ creativity and leave parents marveling at their mini masterpieces.
  • Keep safety top of mind at all times, ensuring that every activity is not only fun but also conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Be a mentor, role model, and friend to campers, helping them grow, learn, and discover their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational setting (or a willingness to learn on the fly and dive headfirst into the fun);
  • A creative spirit and a knack for thinking outside the box – because around here, the sky’s the limit when it comes to fun and adventure;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and entertain children of all ages;
  • A can-do attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty (literally and figuratively) in the name of fun;
  • Be punctual, self-motivated, communicate openly, take and give direction well;
  • Strong team player and can work effectively and efficiently with others and alone with little or no supervision;
  • Physical job requirements include: occasional lifting of 30 pounds, sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, working outdoors in inclement weather;
  • Minimum 16 years of age;
  • Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check (if over 18 years), Criminal Record Check (if 16 or 17 years);
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate (training provided if needed);
  • Valid Driver’s License; and,
  • Current Driver’s Abstract.

Full Time • Temporary

  • Wage: $18.00 per hour Hours: 8 hours per day, Monday to Thursday, 32 hours per week.
  • Term: June 27, 2024 to August 16, 2024 • Orientation will be held June 27, 2024. Staff must be available to work on this day.
