Water Break Along 101 Street

Updated March 12 at 345 PM

Water will be back in service along 101 St., between 100 Ave. and 102 Ave. by 8 pm tonight.

After additional excavation and further thawing, we were able to isolate the damaged part of a service line that was connected to the main line. With the service line isolated we are now able to bring the main line back into service while we complete repairs on the service line.

Because the main line has been shut in it has to be sanitized and flushed before we turn the water back on. We are coordinating that process with the Water Treatment Plant and expect water to be back in service by 8pm tonight.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the ruptured line.

Attempts to shut off the valve connecting the hydrant service line to the water main were unsuccessful due to the depth of the frost in the ground. We are now excavating around the valve and anticipate the digging will stop around 4pm at which point we can thaw more of the valve and line. We will have an update closer to 5pm.

Crews working on the water break have thawed a critical valve and are currently testing to confirm the break is located between the valve and a fire hydrant nearby. Testing is expected to take about an hour, at which point we will have a better idea as to when we can restore water service.

An update will be posted once testing is complete.
