Shortly after 8 pm on Saturday, May 2, the Peace River Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire located at the old Forestry site near 103 St. in the Peace River’s South End.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed that one of the outbuildings, an old vehicle garage, was fully involved. Crews worked to douse the fire, including a small grass fire that sprang up as a result of the vehicle garage fire. Both were quickly contained, and the garage was later demolished as it was left in unstable condition following the fire. No injuries were reported, and the buildings were vacant.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is on-going at this time and police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying any suspicious behaviour in and around the compound in the hours leading up to the fire.  Police are requesting that residents of the area with video surveillance systems or dash cameras review their footage and contact the Peace Regional detachment in the event that any suspicious individuals or activity were captured.  Should you have information relating to this or any other crime, please contact the Peace Regional RCMP detachment at 780-624-6677. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
