ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Workshop for Non-Profit Staff or Volunteers Suicide first-aid. A two-day, skills-based workshop for intervening with a person at risk of suicide. July 12 & 13, 2022 (Tuesday & Wednesday) 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Learning objectives: Recognize that caregivers and persons at risk are affected by personal and societal attitudes about suicide Discuss suicide with a person at risk in a direct manner Identify risk alerts and develop a safe plan related to them Demonstrate the skills required to intervene with a person at risk of suicide Register at peaceriver.ca/registration For registration assistance or course information, call Peace River

Help a local senior feel a little more Christmas cheer this Holiday by signing up with the Adopt-a-Grandparent Program! The program is designed to provide gifts to seniors who may not otherwise receive presents this year. To participate in the program, stop by the Town of Peace River Community Services Department from November 14 to December 9, pick up a gift bag, fill the bags with the gifts and return it by December 15. Seniors are referred to this program by either family/ friends or agencies. To ensure participant confidentiality, gifts are delivered by Town of Peace River Staff and screened volunteers.
