Each year, the Town of Peace River reviews municipal fees and charges to make sure they’re aligned with industry best practice, while acknowledging inflation and service costs. The bylaw related to this review was put before Council on February 12, 2024, at which time they passed first reading.
That means the bylaw is returning on the 28th for second and potentially third readings, so we want to make sure you know what’s in there!
First, there are no changes to fees being requested in Corporate Services/Protective Services.
For Community Services, fees are proposed to increase by an average of 2%, while the Baytex Energy Centre admission fee is proposed to increase by 5% (after not having increased for the past 3 years). There are no proposed increases for pool or museum admission.
These amendments are being considered by Council to ensure the Town accounts for current circumstances, while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
