Baytex Energy & Peace River Renew Naming Rights

Peace Regional Recreation Centre will be named Baytex Energy Centre

January 23, 2017

The Town of Peace River and Baytex Energy are pleased to announce an agreement regarding naming rights for the new Peace Regional Recreation Centre.

Work is set to begin on the facility this spring with expected completion 18 months later. During that time the Town of Peace River will continue to operate the Baytex Energy Centre in its present form, until the new one is completed.

Baytex will invest $450,000 over a ten year period to support the recreational needs of the Peace River Region.

“This sponsorship agreement reaffirms Baytex Energy’s commitment to contribute to the communities in which we operate,” said Ed LaFehr, President of Baytex Energy. “Since drilling our first well in 2004, our operations have grown to more than 90 full-time employees and contractors that work and live in the Town of Peace River and the surrounding communities. The New Baytex Energy Centre will be a vibrant place for families and neighbours to meet.”

“We are very proud, and honoured, to be able to put the Baytex name on our new recreational complex,” said Tom Tarpey, Mayor of Peace River. “Baytex has always been a great supporter of the Town of Peace River and the region, Baytex’s renewed investment in the Town is a signal of a very positive economic future for Peace River.”

While the naming rights for the facility have been secured, opportunities are available to provide naming rights to the ice house, the field house and the running track, as well as community rooms and the child-play area.

We look forward to opening the NEW Baytex Energy Centre in 2019.
