Request for Decision re: Assessment Review Board Appointments

Council appointed Larry Hyrniuk and Garrett Tomlinson to the assessment review board for a term from December 14, 2021 to December 14, 2024.

Request for Decision re: IDP Referral from MD Peace

Council directed Administration to provide the Town of Peace River response to the Bylaw No. 6/2021 and Bylaw No. 7/2021 referral to the Municipal District of Peace No. 135 as drafted.

Request for Decision re: Public Meeting Areas Without Sprinklers Policy

Council repealed Policy # P-23-1985-01 “Public Meeting Areas without Sprinklers”.

  • The 2019 National Fire Code – Alberta Edition supersedes any local policy, unless that policy contains requirements which exceed the minimum safety requirements contained within the code. This policy (Policy # P-23-1985-01) does not contain any requirements which exceed the minimum safety requirements contained within the current code and is, therefore, no longer required.

Request for Decision re: Fire Department Awards Ceremony

Council enabled the Mayor or designate and a Councilor to attend the Peace River and County of Northern Lights Fire Departments Annual Awards on December 21, 2021.

Request for Decision re: WJS Letter of Support

Council directed to provide a letter of support to WJS for their proposal to Children Services North Region, for Family Intervention Services and Therapeutic Foster Care.

Request for Decision re: Public Engagement Working Group

Council appointed Councilors Good, Carr, and Shannon to the Public Engagement Plan working group.

Request for Decision re: 2022 Interim Budget

Council approved the 2022 Interim Operating Budget in the amount of $10,882,485 based on 50% of the Approved 2021 Operating Budget as detailed in Appendex l.

Request for Decision re: PRSD Joint Municipalities Meeting

Council enables its members to attend the meeting with the Peace River School Division’s Board of Trustees on February 2, 2022.

Request for Decision re: Grants to Organizations – Peace Region Hockey Tour Society

Council supported the application of the Peace Region Hockey Tour Society in the amount of $5,900.00 from the Council Grants to Organizations program.

Request for Decision re: Grants to Organizations – Northern Sunrise Rural Crime Watch Association Symposium Sponsorship

Council provides a $1000 sponsorship to the Northern Sunrise County Rural Crime Watch Symposium.

Request for Decision re: Cancellation of January 4, 2022 Governance and Priorities Meeting

January 4, 2022, Governance and Priorities Committee Meeting cancelled.

Request for Decision re: Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework with MD Peace No. 135 (document amended December 10, 2021)

Council approved the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework Agreement between the Town of Peace River and the MD of Peace No. 135 as presented.

Mayor Manzer and Councilor Carr appointed to the IFC Committee with MD Peace, with Councilor Shannon as the alternate.

Request for Decision re: Proclamation of January 2022 as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Council supported the request to Proclaim January 2022 as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

Request for Decision re: Community Crime Prevention Training and Symposium (amended December 10, 2021)

Council enabled up to five Councilors to attend the virtual training sessions as presented.
