Building the Lego Club
September 22, 2017
The Baytex Energy Lego Club was pleased to kick off their 4th season on Friday September 15, 2017 with the presentation of a $2000 donation by Mr Len March of Baytex Energy.
The Club hosts 50 participants throughout the school year who meet for weekly challenges, games, free build experiences, and team activities. The Baytex Lego Club is facilitated by Peace Parent Link Centre and kept free of charge through the support of the Town of Peace River Community Services.
Baytex Energy has been the corporate sponsor of the club since its inception, supplying all the funding for building materials, thus giving the club opportunity to grow each year while maintaining enough supplies. This year’s donation will go towards the purchase of 10 “Lego Education Simple Machine Kits” which will allow the club members to motorize their builds and level up their challenges.
The Baytex Lego Club for grades 1-4 runs on Fridays for the next 10 weeks, downstairs in the Peace River Municipal Library & Art Gallery and is currently filled to capacity.
The Baytex Builders of Tomorrow Club for grades 4-6 will run from January to March 2018. Registration for this program will be on December 8th at 9am at Peace Parent Link Centre in Peace River. This program is similar to the Lego Club but for more advanced builders. All registrations must be made in person and are first come first serve. Spaces are limited.
