Community Cleanup Crews – Not-for-Profit Edition!

Downtown Peace River is the heart of the community.  To enhance and maintain our beautiful town, we are looking for interested community groups to assist with sprucing up the level of cleanliness in the downtown area.

Objectives:

  • Assist the Town and downtown businesses with the beautification of the downtown area.
  • Support local not-for-profits groups, organizations, and clubs.

How does this work?

Not for profits/community groups register to take a “shift” of approximately 3 hours/week with a minimum number of 4 participants.  There will be one shift per week available. Groups can choose to book as many weeks as they like. Ideally, we are trying to have 1 group per week.  The program will operate for August and September 2024.

Groups will receive a financial contribution to their organization of $200 for every 3-hour shift.

Process:

  • Register your not-for-profit for a 3-hour shift to clean up any garbage within the downtown area.
    • Maps are provided of streets/avenues in the downtown and groups are asked to stay within the identified downtown area. (The clean up will not include areas along the river or green space.)
    • Please pick up all garbage found along the curb, sidewalks, and adjacent to buildings.
    • Bags and garbage picking tools will be provided.
    • Volunteers must be in pairs.

Requirements:

  • Must be a registered non-profit, club, or organization in Alberta.
  • Priority will be given to organizations located in Peace River.
