The 2023 Asphalt Overlay and Sidewalk Replacements Program is getting underway!
What is the Town’s Asphalt Overlay and Sidewalk Replacements Program?
The Asphalt Overlay and Sidewalk Replacements Program is an annual program that maintains the transportation networks, including an Annual Overlay Program, Patch Replacements necessitated by damage caused by underground work over the last year, and Patch Replacements identified by Administration through operations and concerns from residents.
An estimated 1,500m of asphalt and an estimated 1,000m of sidewalk are expected to be replaced from 2023 to 2025. The annual program is subject to the annual budget approved by Town Council, but is anticipated to be between $500,000 and $600,000 for asphalt pavement, and between $130,000 and $160,000 for concrete each year. The project is expected to evolve year-to-year as new work scopes arise.
What’s the project scope for 2023?
The 2023 construction program includes:
• Annual Overlay Program: 91st Street from 107th Ave until 111th Ave in Lower West Peace.
• Asphalt and Concrete Patch Replacements throughout town.
In 2023 the Town will also be working with the engineering consultant to perform trail assessment on the east-side dyke and prepare Annual Trail Overlay Program to inform future budgets and facilitate future maintenance.
When will the 2023 construction start?
Project Start: Week of September 11
Project End: End of October
Will there be impacts to access?
The contractor will be working to limit disruption to the construction areas. The majority of sites will have minimal/temporary disruption. Residents of 91st Street will receive additional communication from the contractor prior to the beginning of construction that will limit access.

What’s the project scope for 2024 and 2025?
The tentative project scope is as follows. The project is expected to evolve year-to-year as new work scopes arise. Each year’s work will be confirmed in the spring/summer of that year.
2024
• Annual Overlay Program: 73rd Avenue from 99th Street to 100th Street.
• Patch Replacements
• Annual Trail Overlay Program
2025
• Annual Overlay Program: 91st Street from 111th Ave until 92nd St, and, as a deletable item, 91st Street from 92nd Street to end of cul-de-sac;
• Patch Replacements
