Presentations

Velocity Group

A representative from Velocity Group attended Council to present on the Neighbourhood Infrastructure Renewal program in the South End. Details are in the recording belong, no presentation materials were provided.

South End Residents

A group of residents from the project area of the Neighbourhood Infrastructure Renewal Project for 2019 spoke regarding the removal of 12 trees along the boulevard. Details are in the audio recording below, no presentation materials were provided. After the presentation Town staff were directed to meet with representatives of the residents regarding a Local Improvement Levy and the re-aligning of water lines in the project area.

New Business

Baytex Energy Centre Asset Disposal

Current plans for the disposals of assets from the old Peace River arena were presented to Council. Some materials will be given to neighbouring municipalities and rinks, other items will be auctioned off a later date, to be announced.

Flag Protocol Policy

Updates to the Flag Protocol Policy were approved, primarily the addition of the Treaty 8 and Metis Nation Flags as recognized flags and which order flags are to be flown in.

Substance Abuse Policy

An updated Substance Abuse Policy for municipal employees was passed.

Inter-municipal Development Plan Area Adjustments

Council agreed to update the area for an Inter-Municipal Development Plan (IDP) with Northern Sunrise County, following landowner feedback during our IDP Process.

Vehicle Leasing Program

Council approved a request from staff to take part in a leasing program through Enterprise. Through the program, the town will lease, instead of buying light trucks and other vehicles used. Leased vehicles will be incorporated as vehicles the Town owns are removed from service.

Managing Healthy Forests

Council was enabled to attend Mercer’s Forest Management presentation on April 24, 2019.
