Public Art in Peace River
Whether an expression of heritage, identity or something else art has the power to draw people together. When used in a public space this helps to build a sense of community. In 2016 the first official project under this program was commissioned in the form of a surrealist painting on the side of a downtown building.
As part of the Town’s Downtown Beautification Work Plan, we’re looking to create more art in town in 2017.
We are currently seeking input on our next project and we hope the community has some ideas. If you have ever had a vision for a piece of art in Peace River this is a great opportunity to possibly make it happen. We need ideas and committee members by March 15, 2017.
We need a group of community members to help with the process of selecting an idea, medium, location, and artist. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute positively even if they don’t have a specific idea for an art piece. However, if you have a great idea you can submit it and be a committee member.
If you’re interested in joining the committee please download the application.
Do you have a great public art idea? Really wish the Town would do a ______? Tell us your great ideas! We want to know!
The three things that need to be considered are:
- Location – Must be a location in Downtown Peace River
- Medium – Is this a painting, a statute, something interactive, or something mixed? Be as specific as you can.
- Content – What is in the art?
Fill out the form below and let us know your idea. Or you can download the pdf and either email, mail it or drop it off at our office.
Send us your ideas!
Use the form below to directly submit your public art ideas via our website. Make sure to include location, medium and content in your submission.
