Peace River Welcomes News of Three Creeks Power Plant

February 22, 2017

We are pleased to hear that Kineticor has announced is will be constructing a new cogeneration plant in Three Creeks. Repurposing the Carmon Creek site as a power plant will help to both diversify and grow the Peace River area economy.

“The Town of Peace River is excited about Kineticor’s initiative to bring online a 690MW Power Plant in the Three Creeks area and create an energy centre in the Peace River region,” said Peace River Mayor Tom Tarpey. “This is a strong step forward in helping Alberta wean itself off coal while building new opportunities in the region.”

Using natural gas, the cogeneration plant will be able to supply electricity to surrounding cities, towns and industrial plants; the excess steam generated will be used in neighbouring industrial facilities.
