Parade of Programs
Parade of Programs is a twice-annual event organized by the Town of Peace River which helps parents and caregivers connect with local clubs and organizations. If you’re looking for an activity to keep your child busy this fall this is the place to find it.
Typically this event is hosted in-person, however, this year we are moving the event online in an effort to improve safety.
Please note: We can only provide information that has been submitted to us for this initiative. If a group has not submitted their information, we cannot share it with the community. The more complete your information is, the better it is for those looking to participate in your activity.

Peace River 4-H Multi Club
4-H is a program for youth ages 9-21 and focuses on skill development with an emphasis on communication skills. Our projects vary with each member’s interests for the year and this year we are offering the horse project and the Exploring 4-H project. We do have younger members ages 6-8 years called Cleavers that we can include in the club. We meet monthly as a club on the 3rd Monday of the month from 6:30-7:30 pm. Project meetings are separate and can be at least 2 times a month. We do community service activities and fun get-togethers too. We welcome new families to our club.

Peace River Preschool Society
Peace River Preschool’s goal is to ready children through play for Kindergarten. We offer a wide variety of classes including morning and afternoon options. ABC’s, 1,2,3’s, colors, shapes, rhyming and learning to write our names, and recognizing the letters and sounds of the alphabet are a few things we do.
Classes run as follows:
Mon/Wed AM – 9:30-11:30am
Tues/Thur AM – 9:30-11:30am
Mon/Wed PM – 12:45-2:45pm
Tues/Thur PM – 12:45-2:45pm

Nampa Minor Hockey
Nampa Minor Hockey is excited to get back on the ice for the 2020-21 season. We will have three teams this season. U7 (formerly initiation) U9 (formerly novice) and U11 girls (formerly Atom)
Practises are Monday/Wednesday: U7 @ 5-5:45pm. U9 @ 5:15-6pm. U11 @ 6:15-7:15pm.
Fees Are U7 – $150. U9 – $200. U11 – $300.
We have extended the early registration pricing to stay in effect to the end of October. We wanted to give parents a break on fees also with the unknowns of Covid this season may look a little different.
Regular Practises will begin after Thanksgiving on Oct. 14. We are again trying to line up Power Skating sessions for each of our levels for possibly the first week of October. Stay tuned for more details!!
Games, once they start in November, will involve mini-leagues of up to 50 participants including coaches, managers players. They will remain with this mini-league cohort for game play for the remainder of the season. Home games are Saturday mornings 9:30-10:30am for U7, 10:45- 11:45am for U9 and 12-2pm for U11.

U11 girls can email Kristy Provost at firstname.lastname@example.org with full name, birthdate to register along with an e-transfer for the fees.
Muzyka Ukrainian Dancers
Our Dance students, who range in ages of 5 – 18, practice once a week from the beginning of October through to the following May, when the season ends in a final concert. During the dance season, the dancers also perform at numerous community events and travel to compete in out of town Ukrainian Dance Festivals. Our instructor is professionally trained and comes from Edmonton each week to lead our classes. You do not need to be Ukrainian to join. North Peace Gymnastics Club
We offer gymnastic classes for all ages. Starting at 18mths to 18 yrs old. Our mission is to provide quality programming including FUN, FITNESS and FUNDAMENTALS for the Peace Country. We will promote physical health through community based programming with quality coaching, enthusiasm and committed members in a safe environment.

Registrations are not open yet unfortunately, as we are waiting on updates from Canada Basketball. We are hoping to start by the end of September and run the program until mid-November.

Berwyn Tiger Taekwondo
Martial arts training for ages 5 and up, all levels and abilities welcome. All classes are Mondays and Wednesdays at Berwyn Taekwondo 5027-52 Ave, Berwyn.
- New Students to Yellow Belts: 5-5:45
- Green Stripe Belts and Up: 6-6:45
- New Students to Yellow Belts: 7-7:45
- Adult Class: 8-8:45
All classes will follow AHS and Taekwondo Canada recommendations and precautions including a maximum of 12 students per class. Classes cost $60/month per student. Annual registration fee $20. Registration on Wednesday, September 2nd Classes begin Wednesday, September 9th.

Peace River Northern Lights Speed Skating Club
Speedskating for youth and adults with coaching from learning basic skills to competition Practices are Wednesday 7-8:45 pm & Sunday 2:30-4:45pm at the Baytex arena. Equipment is available from the club to rent for the season.

Peace River Scottish Society
The Peace River Scottish Dance Society is a non-profit dance club promoting the art of traditional Scottish dancing and Scottish heritage while developing student abilities, self-confidence, and presentation skills. We offer classes for dancers ages 4 and up. Our season runs from the 3rd week in September – May. All classes are held at Fitness on the Go.
Mighty Peace Ringette
Any girls aged 6-16 who want to learn a new sport, make new friends & have a blast doing it? Come join Mighty Peace Ringette! We practice twice a week in Peace River & Nampa. No experience necessary, just come out & have fun!
AWANA – First Baptist Church
AWANA is a weekly club for kids ages 3 to JR. high. Each week consists of game time, handbook time, (where kids recite Bible verses to their leaders) and a Bible story. Kids earn rewards through the year and build confidence and friendships along the way. Awana begins in September and runs on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00.

Peace River Skating Club
Offering Skate Canada programs for ages 4 and up. Including Canskate, a learn to skate program and an Advanced Star Skate Program. Canskate: Mondays 4:00-4:45pm and Wednesdays 4:00pm-4:45pm.
Peace Region Family Resource Network
The Family Resource Network Hub is an information centre for families with children aged 0-18. Family Education Facilitators are available to answer questions, provide evidence-based resources, connect families to community agencies and make referrals to services.
Interactive Family Time Starting October 5th: Two families in the same cohort (max 10 people including caregivers) can book 90-minute time slots at our FRN Hub (upstairs in the Baytex Energy Centre) to skill build & play together! A Family Education Facilitator will be onsite to assist with questions, book lending, resources, tip sheets and literacy kit sign out. We will be following the cleaning and physical distance guidelines set by Alberta Health Services. Please contact us to find out more information regarding our guidelines and to book your time slot.
Home Visitation (0-6 years): This program is designed for parents to be, and caregivers of children aged 0-6. We focus on parent/ caregiver interactions that support and nurture child development, growth and exploration with a program that is unique to each family.
Sing-a-Long at Home Friday, Sept 11th, 10:30 to 10:45 am: Come sing with us in the comfort of your own home! We will share tips, songs and ideas to help keep the importance of music alive. The whole family is invited! Call to register and get your link to join in.
Hassle-Free Shopping with your Children in Uncertain Times! Saturday, Sept 19th, 10 to Noon – Online Session
Learn how to deal with difficult behaviour in public, teach children how to follow new rules while shopping and how to plan ahead to prevent issues from happening in the first place. Call to register.
Baby Bits Wed. Afternoons: September 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th from 2:30 to 3:30pm: Let’s get creative together! Topics include ages & stages, movement and building our little ones skills. We will be meeting outside at Riverfront Park in Peace River or online if it rains.
Kids Have Stress Too!: Choose from two online options: Monday Evenings, 6-7pm on September 21st & 28th or Saturday Morning from 10-noon on October 3rd Help your children learn to manage stress effectively. Call to register.
Ready to Read: Friday mornings on October 2nd, 9th ,16th, 23rd, 30th from 10:30 to 11am Join virtually for stories, song, crafts and activities! *Register by Sept. 23rd for an Activity Pack! (Pickups Sept. 29th/30th). *In partnership with the Peace River Municipal Library.
Family Transitions and Triple P (combined) For families with children aged 0-18: Wednesday Evenings, 6-8pm Sept 30th to Oct 28th (Family Transitions Online Classes) Nov 4th to 25th (Triple P or Triple P Teen Online Classes). * Dec 2nd to 16th (individual Sessions – Flexible Times) Completing this 12-session program will give you both the Transitions Program and Level 4 Triple P or Triple P Teen. It includes a combination of group sessions and one-on-one telephone support; helping divorced or separated parents manage stress, anger, child behaviour problems & conflict. If you have already taken Level 4 Triple P/Teen you may be eligible to take the first five classes only (optional follow up).

Virtual Tabletop Gamers
This program is bringing tabletop games to you virtually. You can stay in the comfort of your own home and still get the social interaction and board games that you have been craving. This program is held on Thursday evenings every 4 weeks from 6-7pm via Zoom. Registration is required. Visit prmlibrary.ab.ca to register. This event starts on September 24th.
Virtual Talking Buddies
Virtual Talking Buddies brings people from all backgrounds to practice speaking English. This program is held on Wednesday evenings every 4 weeks from 6-7pm via Zoom. Registration is required. Visit prmlibrary.ab.ca to register. This event starts on September 30th.
No age limit, must reside in Heritage Towers or Points West Living.

Virtual Story Time
Crafts and picture books target ages are 0-5, but we will accept older children into the program.
Held every Friday from 10:30-11am starting November 6th.
