BYLAW TO AMEND THE TOWN OF PEACE RIVER LAND USE BYLAW NO. 1891

Posted November 28, 2022

Pursuant to Section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, being Chapter M-26 of the Statutes of Alberta, notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of Peace River will hold a Public Hearing before the second reading of Bylaw No.2122 to amend the Town of Peace River Land Use Bylaw.

Bylaw No. 2122 updates the Communication Tower provisions of the land use bylaw to ensure that the regulations of the bylaw are consistent with the Town’s authority over communication towers, which are developments regulated by the Government of Canada.  The bylaw:

  • gives the Development Officer the authority to issue a Statement of Concurrence or Non-Concurrence to the telecommunication company;
  • identifies what information the company should provide to the Town to inform the decision to issue the statement of concurrence and non-concurrence, and the Town’s requirements for community consultation; and
  • encourages the placement of communication towers in industrial districts and areas where the tower can be located on roof tops or side-mounted to a building greater than 12 metres.

The Council of the Town of Peace River has given first reading to Bylaw No. 2122 and will hold a public hearing as follows:

5:00 pm, Monday, January 9, 2023
Council Chambers
9911-100 St
