New murals announced for downtown Peace River

New murals announced for downtown Peace River

July 5, 2018
Two local businesses are about to have their buildings turned into works of art.

Both Peace River Brewing and Great Canadian Doller Store were successful in their applications for the Town of Peace River’s Downtown Beautification Public Art Grant, which was announced earlier this spring.

The murals are expected to go up over the summer with completion before October 2018.

We would also like to congratulate artists Shannon Brown and Andrew Olivier who were selected by the building owners to produce the murals.

Peace River’s public art program is a component of the Town’s downtown beautification work plan which was approved in 2016. Since then implementation of the plan has resulted in, two murals, public art boards celebrating Canada 150, banners added to downtown light standards, and seasonal trees in Main Street traffic medians during the winter. This year we will also be installing new bike parking garbage cans, and benches along Main Street.
