Job Posting: Summer Recreation Junior Leader

If you are interested in working with youth and providing various opportunities for the public to enjoy affordable summer programs and/or special events, keep reading! You will be working in a fast-paced, creative environment focused on delivering active, fun and safe programs for youth.

This posting is for Recreation Junior Leaders who will assist with supervised group-based activities for youth 6-12 years of age, Monday to Friday, during July and August. They are responsible for assisting with youth activities, games and the overall supervision of the program participants under the guidance of the Summer Recreation Senior Leaders.

Full Time • Temporary
Wage: $15.00 per hour
Hours: 8 hours per day, Monday to Thursday, 32 hours per week.
Term: June 27, 2022 to August 21, 2022
Orientation will be held June 27, 2022. Staff must be available to work on this day.
Closing Date: May 31, 2022

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong team players and can work effectively and efficiently with others and alone with little or no supervision;
• Previous experience working or volunteering with youth is an asset;
• Be punctual, self-motivated, communicate openly, take and give direction well;
• Physical job requirements include: occasional lifting of 30 pounds, sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, working outdoors in inclement weather;
• Minimum 16 years of age;
• Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check;
• First Aid/CPR Certificate (training provided if needed);
• Valid Driver’s License; and
• Current Driver’s Abstract.
