Recreation Facilities Lead

The Town of Peace River Community Services Department is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join the arena operations team, in the full time, permanent position of Recreation Facilities Lead.  This will be the last season of ice (2018-19) in the existing Baytex Energy Centre before moving into the new state of the art Peace Regional Recreation Centre in March of 2019.

Reporting to the Recreation Facilities Coordinator, the Lead will supervise Arena and Parks staff. This role is the first point of contact for our facility users and requires a working knowledge of recreational facility maintenance and ice/Zamboni operation. You will perform a variety of tasks related to arena operation such as install and maintain ice, operate resurfacing and other related equipment, operate the arena refrigeration plant, perform minor maintenance and repair, ensure building security, and perform janitorial and custodial functions for the ice arena.  During the summer months this person will perform outdoor work as required within parks, playgrounds, and general maintenance. Duties may include, but are not limited to: janitorial of washrooms, landscaping projects, sports field maintenance, and playground repairs. This position is unionized and falls within the scope of CUPE Local 898.

Qualifications:

  • Arena Operations Level 1 and 2
  • Parks and Sport Fields Operator Level 1 and 2
  • Building Maintenance Level 1 and 2
  • Standard First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
  • WHMIS 2015 certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Must be physically capable of lifting over 50 lbs.

Permanent Full Time Employment

Wage:      $27.29 for the 2018 year
Hours:      40 hours per week

6:00 am to 2:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday
7:00 am to 3:00 pm
