West Hill Highway Rehabilitation

With spring here construction season is officially underway in Peace River. That means taking extra care around workers and in construction zones.

Currently Alberta Transportation is working on a project on Peace River’s west hill. This project involves replacing the medians, extending the north bound climbing lane to the airport, a fresh asphalt overlay and upgrades to a number of intersections along the way. This project covers the stretch from west of the Peace River bridge to Roma Junction with construction taking place during daylight hours only. It is part of Alberta Transportation’s Highway rehabilitation project and not related to the new bridge project.

During this time delays are to be expected, although Alberta Transportation expects them to be minimal. Speed will be reduced to 50km/h there will be flag people and possible lane reductions Work is scheduled to wrap up in mid-August of 2016, with the heavy earth work, including the median rehabilitation expected to be completed by mid-July 2016. During this time please be patient, leave extra time when traveling through the construction zone, safety of those working and traveling is paramount.
