Highway Two Lane Reduction and Closure of Shaftesbury Trail
As part of the work to build the new Peace River bridge, there are some traffic impacts that will be in place periodically from now until November.
Westbound Highway Two (headed towards Grimshaw) will be reduced to one lane partway up the hill following the merge from Shaftesbury Trail (Highway 684). The section of Shaftesbury Trail that runs under the Highway at that spot will be closed completely to traffic. When work permits the road will be temporarily reopened, however, drivers should anticipate a detour.
The closure is necessary as contractors for Alberta Transportation are beginning to work on the expansion of the existing Highway Two hill climb. This section needs to be modified to allow the roadway on the new bridge to be integrated into the existing road system.
