National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join us for a day celebrating and honouring local Indigenous culture.

Itinerary:

  • 9:00AM – Pipe Ceremony
  • 4:00PM – Every Child Matters Walk
  • 4:30PM – Riverfront Park Event with keynote speakers Steven Cooper, Kathleen Laboucan, and Terry Ladue
  • 5:00PM – Free stew and bannock from Kokum’s Shack

Workshops open to everyone:

  • Porcupine earrings
  • Bannock on a stick
  • Beading
  • Bead red dress pin
  • Bead orange shirt pin
  • Bowl game
  • Dreamcatchers
  • Medicine bag
  • Pouches
  • Metis beadwork inspired dot art

Other activities at Riverfront Park include mini round dance, storytelling, children activities with Peace Family Resource Network, coffee from Tim Hortons, live music by Nathan Cunningham & The Blazin’ Country Band, and live fiddling provided by Alex Kusturok & Donnie L’Hirondelle.
