Director of Corporate Services

The Town of Peace River is accepting applications for one (1) permanent, full-time Director of Corporate Services.

Peace River is a progressive urban centre in northwest Alberta, and is a
scenic, growing town that is home to just under 7,000 residents. The
community is situated in the Peace River Valley and straddles the banks of the mighty Peace River. The town is within a five hours’ drive north of Edmonton and two hours northeast of Grande Prairie.

Under the direction of the CAO, the Director of Corporate Services is
responsible for the business affairs of the Town. The Director Services will lead a team of professionals in providing services to internal and external
stakeholders. It provides leadership in financial and business affairs and in the public interest, as well as in the provision of adequate services for the residents of the Town of Peace River, within the limits of available financial resources This position also includes management and coordination of projects that
improve citizen engagement, service requests and customer service. The
incumbent must ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and provides administration of the Freedom of Information Act. Additionally, this position serves as the Chief Election Officer.

Full Time • Permanent Employment

Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week

Applicant shall possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in disciplines such as administrative
    management, leadership, or human resource management will also be accepted.
  • 10 years experience in municipal administration, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be
    accepted.
  • An awareness and astuteness of political matters in public
    administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people in a sensitive, tactful,
    diplomatic, and professional manner at all times.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in computer systems for business applications.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Local Government
  • Experience with Central Square and Questica software.

Work Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime without compensation, as required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
