First Steps is an early intervention class for 3-6 year olds with mild to severe delays in speech or motor skills (muscle control and coordination). We have a small student to teacher ratio. It is taught by a certified teacher with support from educational assistants. We base our class activities on learning through play, music and movement. We also have six Family Oriented Sessions throughout the year where parents come to the school with their children for short sessions. These days are designed to provide information for parents about the goals we are focusing on at school and to suggest examples of activities that can be done at home to help the children reach their individual goals.
