Beyond Sashes & Fiddles
Peace River’s Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre, in partnership with Métis Nation of Alberta Region 6, the Peace River Aboriginal Interagency Committee, Rupertsland and the Peace River Municipal Library, are proud to be hosting ‘Beyond Fiddles and Sashes,’ a Parks Canada travelling exhibit.
Please join us for the grand opening of the exhibit from 6pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the Peace River Museum Archives and Mackenzie Centre.
The history of the Métis is tied to waves of settlement, the establishment and loss of communities, and the turbulent events of the 1870s, including Louis Riel’s defense of Métis interests. This travelling exhibit will explore the national history of Métis communities, through photography, objects and narratives, as well as highlight local accomplishments and people in Métis Nation of Alberta Region 6.
The remarkable privilege of having such an important exhibit in our midst is only possible with the support and collaboration of many community individuals and organizations.
If you can’t make the opening be sure to visit the Peace River Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre between November 4, 2017, and May 9, 2018, to see the exhibit.
