The Town of Peace River is seeking an individual to join our team in the temporary position of Water/Wastewater Entry Level Operator.

Full Time • Temporary Employment
Term:       July 9, 2020 to December 2, 2020
Wage:      $29.36 per hour
Hours:      7 days on, 7 days off, 11.5 hours per day, average 40 hours per week.
Closing Date:          Open until a suitable candidate is found.

The function of this position is to read and maintain potable water distribution meters as required by Administration to maintain accurate water usage readings. Included in this work are meter change outs, customer potable water shut offs and investigations pertaining to water usage or meter irregularities.  Additional work may be assigned by the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure or by a designated Manager.  This individual shall possess good English oral and written communication, organizational, and investigational skills.   This position will require working with the public including entering residences with permission to check potable water distribution meters. This position may require additional hours, on-call and/or shift-work including weekends and evenings above regular scheduled hours.

Qualifications:

The following are required for this position:

  • Education minimum Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Class 5 Drivers License; and
  • Proof of a clear criminal record check.

The following are desired and considered an asset to this position:

  • Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • WHMIS/TDG certification.
  • Equipment Safety.
  • College Certificate in Water and Wastewater Treatment, or a 2 year
    College Diploma in a related engineering or environmental program (Co-op students will also be considered); and
  • Valid Alberta Class 3 with Q endorsement driver’s license.
